Political Logos Say a Lot
by Bob Morehouse, CEO
October 19, 2010
Ever notice how political logos really do say a lot about the candidates? Look at these three candidates for Governor of Colorado. Tancredo has pretty much everything going on in his mark, and by logo standards it’s, well, pretty eccentric. That “T” may be a nod to the Tea Party? Whereas Maes uses a stock Garamond Bold font in bright red with rather crude mountains obscured in the background. Doesn’t come off as terribly thoughtful. Hickenlooper, of course, with the longest name in politics, has a badge shape that at least looks like a designer did it. Feels sort of like a beer label, which may be appropriate. If you want to hear Deborah Williams of Design & Image and yours truly prattling on about political logos on CPR’s Colorado Matters, click here and take a listen.
