for Boulder International Film Festival

The Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) brings films and filmmakers from around the world to Boulder for a four-day celebration of the art of cinema. The Vermilion team is thrilled to be helping BIFF develop a reputation as one of the most influential young film festivals in the U.S., with an extraordinary number of new-but-unknown feature films, documentaries, and shorts that have gone on from early screenings at BIFF to significant box-office success and multiple Oscar nominations.

Analytics & Reporting

When we starting working with BIFF, tracking the performance of their digital marketing campaigns needed help. By working with their internal team, we were able to help rebuild their Google Analytics and Facebook configuration to provide more accurate and actionable conversion data, including submissions of new films and advance ticket sales. With proper analytics systems in place, the BIFF team could accurately measure the performance of all their digital marketing channels.

Paid Media Planning, Management & Optimization

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, BIFF is eligible to participate in the Google for Nonprofits program, which offers free access to a variety Google tools, including an AdWords Grant starting at $10k/month in paid search text ads. We researched, planned and set up BIFF’s AdWords Grant account, including development of campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and paid search ads to reach both filmmakers and potential attendees. Since the initial setup, we’ve also provided ongoing optimization and management of all campaigns. Based on their success, we were able to graduate BIFF to AdWords Grantspro status and increase Google’s donation to $40k/month in free advertising.

We also help BIFF manage additional grant and advertising budgets across AdWords, Bing, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Through the efforts of Vermilion and the BIFF team, we’ve seen performance metrics increase dramatically year-over-year 2014 vs. 2015.
